October 17, 2016—Soo Film Festival, Inc., in association with Soo Theatre Project, Inc., is bringing movies downtown on Fridays and Saturdays from October 21 to November 19. We’ve already been using the big screen and sound equipment donated last year by Carmike Cinemas. This year we’re installing side speakers for an improved movie-going experience.
Here’s the schedule of this fall’s movies at the Soo Theatre:
Soo Restaurant Week
|The Breakfast Club and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory|
Downtown Trick or Treat
|Zoombies at the Haunted Soo Theatre, with the Zombie Walk for Autism, a Downtown Trick or Treat event|
NEA Big Read Event
|The Raven (1935) and Tales of Terror, sponsored in part by the Superior District Library as part of the NEA Big Read Event|
|November 4-5||The Martian and WALL-E|
|November 11-12||Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book (2016)|
|November 18-19||Mary Poppins and Thelma and Louise|
This week (October 17-23) is Restaurant Week in Sault Ste Marie, so why not do dinner and a movie Friday and Saturday (Oct 21 and 22) with The Breakfast Club and dessert with Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Take advantage of the eleven participating restaurants. Check out the menus and details at the Sault Restaurant Week web page. You’re sure to find something scrumdidilyumptious!
Show times for The Breakfast Club are Friday night, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday night, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (starring the late, great Gene Wilder) will be shown one time only as matinée Saturday afternoon, October 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person and may be purchased at the door. The Soo Theatre is located at 534 Ashmun St.
Yes, we do have concession! Popcorn and a selection of candy and soft drinks are available. And yes, we do take credit and debit cards.
