Updated: September 1, 2016

We are pleased to announce our official selections for the 2016 Soo Film Festival.  With almost 400 films submitted in 6 categories, including more than 100 films with a connection to the Great Lakes, we had some very tough choices to make.

Filmmakers, be sure to check your inbox.  If your film has been selected, you have a list of things to do…and of course make your plans to come to the festival!  Independent film lovers, these are films you won’t want to miss!  The screenings will take place September 16-18, 2016 at the historic Soo Theatre in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  It’s going to be a great event!  More details will follow, so be sure to Like us on Facebook to stay in the loop.

Below is the list of films for each category. We’ll be putting info about the films on the web as fast as we possibly can. The final schedule will be available on August 29. Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, September 1.  At that time, tickets can be purchased online at, or in person at the Soo Theatre office located on 534 Ashmun Street. For more information, call the Soo Theatre office at (906) 632-1930.

We’d like to thank all of the filmmakers who took the time to share their films with us. We are blown away by your amazing vision and talent and we wish you the best of luck as you continue your passion for filmmaking.
