Soo Film Festival continues to grow in its third year and adds a short film challenge to its programming. The Soo Film Festival Summer Challenge 2016 takes place the weekend of July 22-24. Participants will have those 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and upload a finished short film utilizing supplied elements, such as a character, a line of dialog, and a prop. Qualifying submissions will be screened at the festival and eligible for prizes.
Similar filmmaking challenges have proven popular and take place around the world. Soo Film Festival vice-president Jason Markstrom: “Having competed in several challenges I am very excited to bring it here. This is some of the most exhausting fun a filmmaker can have in 48 hours. It’s called a challenge for a reason and I am looking forward to seeing what the tremendous talent here in Sault Ste. Marie and beyond can accomplish in two days.”
